Job summary

Ysleta Independent School District is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities at Lancaster Elementary School. Responsibilities include assisting with IEPs, behavior management, and instructional tasks under the supervision of a certified teacher.

The role involves supervising students during the day, assisting with materials, and implementing strategies learned in staff development. Paraprofessional certification and English communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or higher; 48 hours from an accredited college or university.
• Must possess or be eligible to obtain a paraprofessional certificate issued by SBEC.
• Acquire CPR, Heimlich maneuver, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) within district training calendar.
• Must be familiar with/able to use Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy apparatus and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students inside and outside classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground.
• Assist with instructional materials, behavioral interventions, and physical needs of students.
• Participate in staff development and implement strategies.
• Work with individuals, small groups, and whole class as assigned by teacher.
• Assist students with severe development and behavioral needs to meet instructional goals.
• Reinforce skills taught by the teacher and follow IEP guidelines under supervision.
• Assist with testing instruments and integrate technology into the curriculum.
• Support substitutes and coordinate with SPED staff.
