Job summary

John Harris Elementary in Sioux Falls, SD, is hiring a Special Education Support Professional for a 0.875 FTE position. The role supports students with special needs, assists with daily living activities, and reinforces instructional goals under a teacher's guidance.

The job includes a 7:30 am–3:00 pm schedule, 9 months, and a $18.42/hour starting wage with a $1,000 sign-on bonus. Applicants must have 2 years post-secondary education and/or pass a state-approved test, plus experience with

Qualifications

Two years of post high school education or higher, or pass a SD-approved test for Education Assistant positions.
Experience with behavior management and supporting students with social, emotional, and behavior needs.

Responsibilities

Escorts students to transportation and other areas of the building.
Provides personal care to students with special daily living needs as needed.
Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher in 1:1 and small groups.
Works with students in school and on community outings.
Prepares instructional materials as directed by teacher.
Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives.
Maintains student records and data for progress notes.
Supervises students during recess, lunchroom, and on the playground.
