Job summary

Sioux Falls School District seeks an Education Support Professional for JFK Elementary to assist students with transportation, daily living needs, and instructional activities. The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, safety, and data recording as part of a 9-month, 0.875 FTE schedule.

Starting pay is $20.42 per hour with a $1,000 sign-on bonus, plus a state-eligible differential. Commitment to student growth and well-being is central to this education support position.

Qualifications

• Two years of post high school education or higher, or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota, for designated Education Assistant positions.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience with behavior management.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in accessing transportation.
• Provides personal care to students with special daily living needs in accordance with established safety competencies.
• Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups in special education classroom and/or regular classroom.
• Works with students in schools and in community sites.
• Prepares instructional materials as directed/selected by teacher.
• Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives with children as directed by the teacher/therapist.
• Provides assistance to maintaining student records (charting, assignments, attendance, data for progress notes).
• Monitors identified student(s) in lunchroom/on playground.
• Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
• Assists with management of student behavior.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
