Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support classroom teachers in delivering instruction to students with disabilities in the South Side. Responsibilities include one-on-one tutoring, personal care assistance, and helping students with daily living skills.

The role requires a valid ISBE paraprofessional license (60 college credits or Parapro/Work Keys) and strong communication abilities. CPR training is highly desirable and may be required after hire.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional license (ISBE) or equivalent.
• CPR training desirable; may be required after hire.
• Strong English grammar and spelling; good math basics.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education teachers in elementary and high schools.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as needed.
• Assist in maintaining student records and behavior notes.
• Support students with various disabilities in daily living skills and activities.
