Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a Special Education teacher. You will reinforce instructional goals, provide one-on-one tutoring, and assist with daily living skills and behavior management as outlined in each student’s IEP.

The role requires a valid paraprofessional license (or the ability to obtain after 60 college credits), English grammar proficiency, and basic math skills.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional license required (ISBE) or eligible to obtain after 60 college hours.
• CPR training is highly desirable and may be required.
• Good knowledge of English grammar and spelling; basic math skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education teachers in implementing IEPs and reinforcing instruction.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and support for students with disabilities.
• Assist with daily living skills, mobility, and classroom activities as directed by the teacher.
