Job description

Northeast Democratic Senator seeks a resourceful and team-oriented Special Assistant with immediate availability for their Washington, DC office. The Special Assistant will join an active Scheduling team to execute the senator's daily schedule in DC.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the Senator's primary body person in DC.
  • Maintaining accurate schedule records and correspondence archival systems.
  • Booking and coordinating official travel for the senator and staff.
  • Performing administrative support tasks for the Director of Scheduling & Operations.
  • Providing ad-hoc logistical and project management support to the Senator's schedule.

Strong candidates possess the following qualifications:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • The ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure and exercise sound judgment.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • A friendly, professional, and collaborative demeanor when interacting with principals, stakeholders, constituents, and staff alike.

Due to the variability of the Senate schedule, the Special Assistant should expect to work long and unscheduled hours, including nights and weekends, on a regular basis. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record for occasional driving needs.
