Job Description

EARN AN EXTRA $30,000 AFTER TAXES IN STIPENDS OVER THE COURSE OF THREE YEARS

Position Title: Teacher
Reports To: Building Principal
Overtime Status: Exempt
Pay Grade: 710

Job Summary: Performs professional work providing instruction and computer-assisted services in a specialized subject or group of subjects, motivating students to develop skills in assigned subject matters; work is performed under the supervision of the Principal.

Essential Duties:

1. Facilitate specialized subject matter(s), motivating students to achieve maximum potential;
2. Assist in developing individualized instructional programs;
3. Instruct students in area(s) of specialization according to State law and school regulations;
4. Establish and maintain standards of behavior;
5. Encourage independent thinking and original ideas;
6. Evaluate student progress, maintain records, and prepare reports;
7. Communicate with students, counselors, and parents;
8. Maintain professional competence through ongoing education;
9. Supervise student movement and activities within the building;
10. Participate in faculty committees and student activities;
11. Perform administrative functions using computer applications;
12. Model non-discriminatory practices;
13. Perform related tasks as required.

Job Specifications/Physical Requirements: Knowledge of subject matter, education principles, and effective teaching practices. Ability to establish standards of behavior, communicate effectively, and operate a computer. Work involves physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Environmental conditions may vary.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in education or related field. Valid Virginia teaching license or eligibility, with 3-5 years of teaching experience.
