Job summary

KACE delivers technology-enabled mission services supporting public health, public safety and national security. Our Linguists translate from Spanish to English for law enforcement contexts, creating accurate, court-ready transcripts while documenting slang and coded language.

These roles require travel to client sites, a non-exempt, part-time schedule, and the ability to work up to 40 hours per week when assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year translation experience in Spanish.
• Knowledge of Spanish, Mexican Dialect colloquialisms, slang terms, and regional expressions.
• Familiarity with SMS shorthand, social media terminology, and web chat communications.
• Excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Must score 90% or higher on all APOLLO assessments.
• Ability to meet the position requirement of a score of 3 or better on a language assessment in English and Spanish.
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with management and law enforcement personnel.
• Strong prioritization and time-management skills; meet deadlines, balance multiple tasks, and work effectively in a team.
• Ability to take technical direction and incorporate feedback from multiple sources.
• Must type 45 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Listen to live or recorded Spanish communications and produce synopses and transcriptions.
• Communicate pertinent information to the Client in a timely manner.
• Build and maintain a master list of slang terms and codes.
• Build and maintain a voice library for the project.
• Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned.
• Produce court-ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents.
• Use project reference tools to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation per 8-hour day.
• Operate government-provided software and equipment (e.g., JSI, Pen-link, Comverse).
• Maintain a daily productivity log.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
