Job summary

KACE is seeking Linguists for real-time and recorded transcription from Spanish Mexican dialect and Urban English to English. This as-needed, part-time role supports law enforcement-related projects with shifts that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Candidates should understand slang, codes, and regional expressions and be proficient in MS Office. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of translation experience, with ability to meet language

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year translation experience in the required language.
• Knowledge of Spanish, Mexican Dialect & Urban English colloquialisms, slang terms, and regional expressions.
• Familiarity with SMS shorthand, social media terminology, and web chat communications.
• Excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Ability to meet a language assessment score of 3 or better in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Listen to live or recorded Spanish and Urban English communications and produce transcriptions.
• Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by supervisor.
• Produce court-ready transcriptions in the required format.
• Maintain a daily productivity log as required by the project.
• Operate project software and equipment used at the site.
