Job summary

Bastrop Independent School District is seeking a Spanish Interpreter/Translator for the 2026-2027 school year to support bilingual education and district communications in Bastrop, TX. The role is non-exempt and falls under the Paraprofessional evaluation category.

The position requires fluency in Spanish, strong translation/interpreting skills, and the ability to handle enrollment communications and LPAC-related activities. Some evening events and campus visits are possible.

Qualifications

• Fluent Spanish speaking, listening, reading and writing abilities.
• Translate between English and Spanish at a normal speaking rate.
• Adapt language based on the student and parent levels.
• Proficient in keyboarding and word processing.

Responsibilities

• Translates a wide variety of documents from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English.
• Interprets orally from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English during conferences, telephone calls, information sessions, emergency situations, etc.
• Assists Spanish-speaking students and their families with the school enrollment process.
• Serves as liaison between the school district and our families.
• Performs other related work to support the Bilingual Education department.
• Occasional after hour events.
• Occasional driving to various campus locations.
• Provide scheduled and as-needed reception desk coverage to maintain front-office operations.
• Keeps informed of state and district policies concerning primary job functions.
