Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a seasoned structural engineer to own the full lifecycle of spacecraft hardware, from concept through launch. You will analyze primary and secondary structures, perform FEA, and document stress analyses to support engineering releases.

Engage with cross‑functional teams, lead testing campaigns, and guide trade studies to balance risk, cost, and performance. A strong background in aerospace structures and hands‑on collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering and 6+ years of experience in aircraft/spacecraft/launch structures.
  • Experience with vehicle load paths, strength sizing, and panel designs (skin-stringer, orthogrid, isogrid).
  • Experience in multi‑functional teams to develop world‑class engineered products.
  • Strong fundamentals in composite and metallic design.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full hardware lifecycle from requirements through integration on a launch vehicle.
  • Analyze, develop, and test primary and secondary structures (metallic and composite).
  • Perform hand calculations and FEM analyses; report margins of safety.
  • Document stress analyses to support release of drawings and docs.
  • Lead risk/ cost/ performance trade studies and provide technical guidance.
  • Build models and run tests; plan and execute structural tests and report results.
  • Prepare technical content and present to internal/external customers.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and mission integration teams.
