Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Quality/Metrology Inspector to join the Space Coast team. You will perform dimensional inspections on flight-critical components using Laser Trackers, CMMs, and other metrology tools, reading drawings and ensuring conformity to ASME Y14.5 standards.

You will program and operate measurement systems, generate NCRs, and collaborate with machinists and engineers to drive quality and safety in spaceflight hardware.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of experience in dimensional inspection of aerospace or precision manufacturing components.
  • GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-2009 and ASME Y14.5-2018.
  • Proficient in precision hand tools, gauges, optical comparators, and surface plate inspection techniques.
  • Experience with at least one advanced metrology system (Laser Tracker, CMM, Blue Light Scanners, Romer Arms, Taylor Hobson, or similar).
  • Ability to inspect tight tolerance, high value components with accuracy and repeatability.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management Systems and related quality programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspections using metrology systems (Laser Trackers, CMMs, Blue Light Scanners, Romer Arms).
  • Program, setup, and operate measurement systems with Spatial Analyzer, PC‑DMIS, or equivalent software.
  • Setup and use mechanical inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators).
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to inspect machined and received components.
  • Perform first article, in-process, and final dimensional inspections of aerospace components and assemblies.
  • Create and manage data analysis templates and inspection reports in Excel and other tools.
  • Provide dimensional feedback to machinists, manufacturing teams, and engineers to support decisions.
  • Generate and document NCRs with accurate dimensional data and analysis.
  • Manage tooling inspections and calibration schedules.
  • Implement process improvements to shorten inspection cycle times and improve techniques.
  • Maintain configuration control on all inspection files, programs, and job records.
  • Work safely around flight-critical hardware.
