Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead fabrication, machining, and assembly processes for space hardware. You will develop manufacturing work instructions, manage cost, quality, and schedule, review engineering drawings, and define process controls using lean methods.

Relocation is provided. This role requires 5+ years in manufacturing engineering, CNC experience, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced spaceflight environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Experience in a machine shop with CNC 5-axis and lathes.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming - NX preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving design environment.
  • Strong fundamentals in mechanical design and manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with lean systems and methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specs, and work instructions.
  • Clear communication across all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing work instructions for material kitting, machining, deburring, inspecting, and packaging.
  • Support fabrication of machined parts for valves and integration.
  • Manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule across manufacturing.
  • Perform engineering drawing review and approve manufacturing drawings.
  • Develop process controls and evaluate via statistical analysis.
  • Define and support repair and rework activities.
  • Interface with external suppliers and partners to ensure delivered on time and on budget.
  • Perform capacity analysis for equipment and processes.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and deploy corrective actions.
  • Maintain hardware configuration and pedigree throughout build and test.
