Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support machining of high‑quality components on mills, lathes, and EDM machines at our WA facilities. You will translate engineering intent into work instructions and help improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize production schedules in a safety‑driven culture.

Responsibilities include creating manufacturing work instructions, performing DFMEA/DFM studies, approving drawings for manufacturing, and supporting repair and rework activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering, or other relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of machining experience developing manufacturing process requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Experience with designing, measuring, modifying, and monitoring processes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated individual capable of prioritizing work to meet project completion dates.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and deploy or refine manufacturing methods to improve quality, reduce cost and optimize build schedule
  • Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional, high quality machined components
  • Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define manufacturing process
  • Define how to set up hardware for machining on mills, lathes, multi-axis and EDM machines
  • Conduct DFM and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design and machining
  • Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing
  • Define and support repair and rework activities for machined components
  • Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing equipment
  • Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions
  • Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire machining process
  • Safely work within an industrial environment
  • 10% travel to Blue Origin sites: AL, FL, and TX
