Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to design and optimize aerospace manufacturing processes for launch vehicles and space systems in Colorado. You will develop work instructions, support production planning, and lead improvement projects to reduce costs and improve safety and quality.

The role requires collaboration with design and manufacturing teams, experience with lean and AS9100/ISO 9001, and ability to travel up to 10% with relocation if needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years' experience with manufacturing processes relevant to aerospace applications.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and manufacturing simulation tools.
• Experience with process documentation and implementation of manufacturing work instructions.
• Familiarity with quality systems and manufacturing standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement efficient manufacturing processes and assembly methods.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process specifications, and standard operating procedures.
• Support production planning and scheduling to ensure on-time delivery.
• Perform process capability studies and implement statistical process control methods.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and drive root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability and design for manufacturing principles.
• Develop tooling and fixture requirements for manufacturing operations.
• Support new product introductions and technology transfer to production.
• Perform manufacturing risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in cross-functional teams for Design for Manufacturing (DFM), DFMEA, and Root Cause Investigations.
• Support production floor operations and provide technical guidance to production teams.
