Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in the Greater Seattle area seeks a Machining Manufacturing Engineer for the B shift to support machined components on mills, lathes, and multi‑axis machines. You will translate engineering intent into work instructions, develop methods to improve quality, and optimize build schedules while ensuring safe, repeatable spaceflight hardware.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace Engineering and 2+ years of machining experience.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years machining experience developing manufacturing process requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Experience with design, measurement, modification, and monitoring of processes.
  • Strong communication across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent blueprint reading, GD&T per ASME Y14.5M.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and deploy manufacturing methods to improve quality and reduce cost.
  • Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into manufacturing work instructions.
  • Develop work instructions for mills, lathes, multi-axis and EDM machines.
  • Conduct DFMs and PFMEAs to strengthen design to machining feedback.
  • Review drawings and provide final approval for manufacturing.
  • Define setup for machining hardware and manage rework activities.
  • Support repair and rework activities for machined components.
  • Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform root cause analyses and deploy corrective actions.
  • Maintain hardware configuration and pedigree throughout machining.
