Job summary

Blue Origin in Merritt Island, FL is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join the Operations team. This hands-on role requires strong communication, engineering fundamentals, and the ability to produce hardware.

You will work across design, development, and tooling to drive on-time delivery and build-process rigor. The ideal candidate has a BS in engineering and 8+ years of manufacturing experience in aerospace or related fields, familiarity with CAD/GD&T, PLM/MES, and experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 8+ years in manufacturing environment for complex products (aerostructure, space systems, aerospace, avionics, medical devices, etc.).
• Experience with PLM and MES enterprise products.
• Experience authoring work order instructions, SOPs, process flow maps, or similar.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, waterjets, coatings, additive manufacturing, precision clean, assembly, inspection, metrology, etc.).
• Experience planning sequencing of manufacturing processes to produce detailed parts or subassemblies.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt in evolving environments and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Proficient in CAD and basic software tools (Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering during design, development, and delivery of hardware.
• Collaborate with planner/scheduler team to ensure on-time delivery of complex engineered products to internal customers.
• Champion the build process with internal customers and manage manufacturing plans for development hardware and tooling.
• Provide guidance on design for manufacturing, process sequencing, and interpretation of engineering requirements (GD&T, materials).
• Perform engineering drawing reviews and approve manufacturing of complex parts and assemblies.
• Author work order instructions with key processes and order-of-operations.
• Balance technical detail with streamlined downstream manufacturing.
• Identify key manufacturing processes to support critical schedules.
• Define and support repair and rework activities.
• Design tooling and fixturing for ease of manufacturing.
• Engineer solutions and own mid-build requirement updates; contribute hands-on as needed.
