Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in the Greater Seattle area is seeking a Senior Machinist with extensive CNC programming and hands-on manufacturing experience. You will set up and operate 2–5 axis machines, read complex drawings, and collaborate with engineering to produce tight-tolerance parts for spaceflight hardware.

The role requires leadership, strong GD&T knowledge, and experience with hardened metals. Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and contribute to continuous improvement across the shop.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in a manufacturing hands-on environment.
• 10+ years CNC programming in NX, Mastercam, etc.
• 5+ years working with multi-axis machines.
• 5+ years working with hardened metals.
• 5+ years in a lead position of skilled workforce.
• Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
• Extensive experience with Okuma or other CNC controls.
• Excellent blueprint reading with GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2009.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate 2–5 axis lathes and mills, EDMs, and manual machines.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, models, and descriptions.
• Machining of tight-tolerance, high-value parts with balance of speed and quality.
• Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering to develop production-ready manufacturing approaches.
• Provide DFM feedback and transition development to production with engineering.
• Cradle-to-grave planning including CAM programming, tooling design, and part inspection.
• Identify and purchase job-specific tools and machinery and support continuous improvement.
