Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Starlink satellite vehicle organization. You’ll own structures, thermal, and electromechanical hardware from ideation through high-volume production, and support on-orbit operations.

You’ll partner with cross-functional teams across design, test, and manufacturing to deliver reliable hardware that meets mission needs, while advancing DFM, materials selection, and qualification processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Experience with CAD and FEA software.
• 1+ years of mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from conceptual design through high volume production and on-orbit operation.
• Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system-level optimization.
• Rapidly iterate on designs and analysis to inform system trades.
• Drive design for manufacturability to reduce parts and improve production.
• Establish product lifecycle from supply chain through integration.
• Perform environmental and performance testing to validate design criteria.
• Own delivery timeline from conception to launch.
