Job summary

SpaceX in Redmond, WA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for Satellite Payloads (Starlink). You will own hardware from ideation through high-volume production and on-orbit operation, tackling structural, thermal, and electromechanical challenges for space-grade hardware.

You will partner with cross-functional teams on phased array antennas, gimballing, actuators, and mechanisms, with growth into leadership roles and exposure to materials science, electromagnetics, and microelectronics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• CAD and FEA software proficiency required.
• 1+ years of mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, or manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from conceptual design through high volume production and on-orbit operation.
• Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system-level optimization.
• Iterate designs and analyses to inform system trades and product direction.
• Drive DFM to simplify designs and reduce part/process counts.
• Coordinate with teams to design and realize efficient in-house production.
• Perform environmental and performance testing to validate design criteria.
• Own project delivery timeline from conception to launch.
• Demonstrate ownership of product outcomes at all stages.
