Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Mechanical Engineer to own hardware from concept through high-volume production and on-orbit operation for the Starmind constellation. You will develop design criteria, iterate designs, and drive system-level optimization for reliable, scalable mechanical systems.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, CAD/FEA experience, and 1+ year in mechanical design, with preferred masters and 3+ years in complex systems. Strong GD&T, NX CAD, and leadership experience are assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Experience with CAD and FEA software packages.
• 1+ years of professional experience with mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing.
• Familiarity with GD&T and high-volume production principles.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from conceptual design through high-volume production and on-orbit operation.
• Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system-level optimization.
• Rapidly iterate on designs and analysis to inform system trades and steer product direction.
• Design for extreme high volume with DFM to reduce parts and process count while maintaining quality.
• Establish an efficient product lifecycle from supply chain through final integration, balancing cost and complexity.
• Perform environmental and performance testing on hardware to validate analysis and ensure design criteria compliance.
• Own product delivery timeline from conception, design, assembly, and launch.
• Demonstrate ownership of product outcomes at every development and production stage.
