Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a spacecraft autonomy and controls engineer to derive autonomy requirements, build control models in Simulink, and verify algorithms using MATLAB. You will collaborate across GN&C and other subsystems to validate high-fidelity plant models and support verification activities.

The role emphasizes hands-on development of autonomy, control systems, and flight software, with a strong focus on quality and mission safety for lunar and spaceflight programs.

Qualifications

• BS in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
• Applied industry experience and/or MS or PhD focused on spacecraft autonomy and controls.
• Proven experience in modeling and simulation autonomy and controls operations.
• Familiarity with flight management, guidance, control, navigation, and astrodynamics fundamentals.
• Experience in MATLAB and Simulink.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card), or lawfully admitted status.

Responsibilities

• Derive and develop autonomy requirements, perform analyses and trades to validate requirements, and maintain subsystem specification.
• Collaborate with GN&C and subsystems engineers to support plant model development.
• Build control code in Simulink and autocoding to target.
• Support simulations and tools for verification of functionalities.
• Use MATLAB and Simulink to analyze, unit test, and verify control and autonomy algorithms.
• Assist verification and testing to ensure subsystem compliance.
