Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an Autonomy Software Systems Engineer III for the Lunar Permanence program in Denver, CO. You will collaborate with systems engineers and program managers to define autonomous behaviors and software requirements, lead best practices, and drive verification and testing across cross‑functional teams.

The role emphasizes safety, high‑assurance software, and seamless hardware‑software integration in a spaceflight environment.

Qualifications

B.S. or higher in computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years professional software engineering experience.
Experience in developing software requirements, verification plans, and test cases.
Experience working across systems and software disciplines, leading cross functional groups.
Experience in spacecraft design and operations, fault management, and safety artifacts.

Responsibilities

Define system autonomy behaviors and software requirements with systems engineers, developers and program managers.
Lead team members on software systems engineering best practices.
Set direction and goals for the team regarding requirements, verification events and test cases.
Manage hardware–software integration across vehicle and mission design teams.
Ensure safety‑critical software development processes are properly captured for safe missions.
