Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a skilled wireless-communications engineer to design and analyze algorithms for the TeraWave platform. You will model, simulate, and verify PHY/MAC, DSP, RF, and ASIC workflows across FPGA and software interfaces.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into hardware-friendly implementations, using MATLAB/Python/C/C++ and SystemC, with a focus on performance, power, and reliability in space environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in wireless communication systems, modem development, digital signal processing, or related engineering.
  • Strong understanding of digital communications and signal-processing fundamentals.
  • Experience with OFDM, QPSK/QAM, synchronization, channel estimation, equalization, FEC, and link adaptation.
  • Experience developing communication-system or signal-processing models using MATLAB, Python, C/C++, SystemC, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of wireless channel effects and RF impairments and their impact on system performance.
  • Ability to work across communication systems, ASIC, RFIC, FPGA, software, and test teams.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and model wireless communication algorithms and signal-processing functions for custom silicon, including PHY/MAC, radio DSP, beamforming, and packet-processing functions.
  • Develop end-to-end communication system and link-level models to evaluate performance, architecture tradeoffs, and implementation requirements.
  • Model RF impairment effects including noise, interference, Doppler, offsets, phase noise, and non-linearities.
  • Design and evaluate algorithms for synchronization, channel estimation, equalization, modulation/demodulation, coding, and link adaptation.
  • Analyze performance vs. complexity, latency, memory, bandwidth, and fixed-point requirements.
  • Translate requirements into specifications for FPGA and ASIC implementations.
  • Collaborate with ASIC engineers for fixed-point conversion and pre-silicon verification.
  • Work with RFIC, beamforming, software, and system teams to define interfaces and ensure end-to-end performance.
  • Develop reference models in MATLAB, Python, C/C++, SystemC for algorithm development and verification.
  • Support FPGA prototyping, pre-silicon verification, silicon bring-up, and post-silicon validation.
  • Document algorithms, models, requirements, interfaces, and verification results.
