Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to design and analyze mechanical components for satellites and aerospace systems. You will work through concept, detailed design, testing, and in-orbit support, leveraging CAD tools and GD&T for robust hardware.

The role emphasizes thermal management, mechanical interfaces, and EMI/EMC mitigation, with collaboration across cross-functional teams in a startup environment.

Qualifications

• BS with 2–5 years in design and analysis or MS with 0–3 years in design and analysis.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of GD&T, drafting standards, and engineering documentation practices.
• Experience with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB or similar.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze mechanical components through all development phases.
• Perform thermal management design and thermal simulations.
• Create and review engineering drawings and CAD models.
• Support qualification, testing, and in-orbit operations of products.
