Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to drive mechanical designs for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace hardware. The role requires proficiency in electronics packaging, CAD, and thermal, vibration, and EMI/EMC considerations across development phases. Collaboration with electrical engineers and cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

• BS and 2–5 years of industry experience in design and analysis or MS and 0–3 years of industry experience in design and analysis.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD.
• Practical understanding of DFM/DFMA implications of material and process selection.
• Knowledge of GD&T, drafting standards, and engineering documentation practices.
• Experience with Engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical designs of Cesium products through all phases of the development process.
• Proficient in electronics packaging design, mechanical simulations and analyses, CAD, spacecraft mechanical interfaces, and environmental qualification of electronic assemblies.
• Lead mechanical design from concept through requirements, detailed design, simulation, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
• Present engineering design review materials to customers and leadership.
