Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking Systems Interface Engineers (Level 2/3) in Redondo Beach, CA. You will lead definition, integration, and verification of external interfaces across space architectures, partnering with systems, hardware, software, and customer teams to meet requirements.

You will develop ICDs/IRDs, decompose requirements, and drive interface control across cross-functional teams to ensure interoperability and program success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 2+ years of engineering experience, or Master's in STEM
• Active SCI clearance at time of application
• Experience developing and managing external interfaces and interface documentation (ICDs, IRDs, specs) and maintaining configuration control
• Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS)
• 2+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or related technical discipline
• Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes
• Demonstrated written and oral communications skills

Responsibilities

• Own external interfaces for assigned subsystems and segments and coordinate with design teams
• Develop, baseline ICDs, IRDs, and related artifacts
• Decompose system requirements into interface requirements and allocate to subsystems/components
• Lead interface working groups, design reviews, and technical interchange meetings
• Maintain Interfaces in DOORS Database and drive documentation
• Coordinate interface definition across mechanical, electrical, data, RF, and software
• Perform interface compatibility assessments and trade analyses
• Support interface verification planning and test procedures
• Investigate and resolve interface-related issues during integration and test
• Ensure alignment with evolving requirements and customer constraints
• Provide clear technical communication to leadership and stakeholders
• Review RFCs for potential impacts and program responses
