Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector in Redondo Beach, CA seeks a Staff Systems Interface Engineer - Level 5 to lead external interfaces across space architectures. You will own the technical baseline for interfaces between payloads, spacecraft buses, ground segments, and partners, ensuring end-to-end interoperability and program compliance.

You will collaborate with systems engineering, hardware, software, and customer teams to decompose requirements, develop ICDs/IRDs, and resolve integration

Qualifications

• Active SCI clearance at time of application.
• Experience developing and managing external interfaces and interface documentation (ICDs/IRDs).
• Experience on space systems programs (spacecraft, payloads, ground segment).
• Familiarity with interface standards and industry best practices for space and ground systems.
• Experience with customer/partner interface definition and control.
• Familiarity with DOORS or similar tools; model-based or structured systems engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical definition and control of external interfaces for assigned subsystems and segments across space, ground and cross-segments.
• Develop, maintain, and baseline ICDs/IRDs and related configuration artifacts.
• Decompose system requirements into interface requirements for subsystems and components.
• Lead interface working groups, design reviews, and technical interchange meetings.
• Maintain Interfaces in DOORS and drive documentation into Digital Transformation.
• Coordinate interface definitions across mechanical, electrical, data, RF, and software domains.
