Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Systems Director (Engineering Program Management and Systems Engineering) for its Technology Development Department in Chantilly, VA. This full-time onsite role leads engineers and scientists to advance next-generation space technologies for a National Security Space customer.

You will advise on space architectures, manage staff and security processes, and collaborate with government customers to align invest-ments with policy and program goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in science, engineering, or mathematics.
• 12 years of experience in space systems, technology development, or related field.
• Experience with space technology research, development, and applications.
• Experience with hardware prototyping and acquisition.
• Technical leadership and team-building experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Willing to travel domestically occasionally – approx. 10%.

Responsibilities

• Manage acquisition of experimental CubeSats and hardware prototyping activities for capability development.
• Provide strategic guidance and vision for future space architectures to inform government technology investment decisions.
• Establish organizational objectives and communicate them to subordinates and matrix organizations.
• Coordinate with senior government customers to report progress, issues, and results.
• Conduct staff performance reviews and manage staffing, training, and development.
