Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced aerospace assembler/ technician to join the Solar Center of Excellence. The candidate will assemble solar cell strings, operate test equipment, and support environmental testing, with a strong emphasis on safety, traceability, and craftsmanship.

This role requires hands-on problem solving, 4+ years in aerospace hardware assembly/test (or AS degree with 2+ years), and the ability to work across cross-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced lab setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 4+ years aerospace hardware assembly/test or AS degree with 2+ years.
  • Experience operating test equipment and recording data with traceability.
  • Test article prep and post-test inspection experience.
  • ESD/cleanroom/FOD compliance; basic metrology; NC documentation.
  • Precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, scales).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented team environment.
  • Basic computer skills (Windows, MS Office).
  • Ability to stoop and stand for extended periods; lift 25 lbs.
  • Shift flexibility with overtime availability.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble solar cell strings under direction; perform welding/tabbing, adhesive dispense, lamination, and rework as instructed.
  • Operate solar simulators, IV flash, EL imaging; log data with traceability.
  • Support TVAC, thermal cycling, AO/UV exposure setups; prep and inspect test articles.
  • Assist with deployment test rigs; install sensors and perform instrumented tests.
  • Maintain ESD/cleanroom/FOD controls; keep work areas clean and calibrate tools.
