Blue Origin is seeking an HLS Software Systems Engineer II for the Lunar Permanence program on Merritt Island, FL. You will collaborate with software, systems, and test engineers to define and verify software across Lunar programs, contributing to safe, repeatable spaceflight.

The role emphasizes developing test cases, writing software requirements, and supporting fault management with state-machine logic and MATLAB/Simulink exposure. A strong engineering culture and mission-focused work are key.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2-5 years professional experience.
• Experience with C/C++ or Python scripting.
• Demonstrated experience developing software requirements and test cases.
• Hands-on experience with state machine definition, controls theory, or MATLAB Simulink (Stateflow exposure preferred).
• Experience working on a cross-functional engineering team.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Develop test cases and scripts against software requirements.
• Independently write and maintain software requirements, verification plans, and test cases for owned scope.
• Participate in fault management discussions and begin contributing to FMEA-driven requirements for assigned subsystems.
• Support HIL/SIL test setup and execution; begin authoring test procedures independently.
• Work directly with flight software, systems, and test engineers to develop software verification test plans.
• Develop tool, test, and verification software as needed.
