Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a software engineer to support the Lunar MK1 Vehicle Test Bed software infrastructure, ensuring correctness and performance of flight software, avionics and ground support systems. The role emphasizes hands-on development, collaboration with stakeholders, and deployment to a mix of cloud and on-prem environments, with a strong focus on safety-critical software for spaceflight.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated skill deploying production distributed systems to cloud and physical compute using Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Strong C/C++ and Python development skills.
• Solid understanding of IP networking concepts.
• Experience with communications protocols and hardware drivers.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins).
• Attention to detail and strong ownership; willing to perform low-level tasks.
• US citizen or eligible to work in the US (Green Card, refugee or asylum status).
• Desired MS in related disciplines.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop software development.
• Experience handling large data production, distribution and storage.
• Debugging at software/hardware boundary; familiarity with verification approaches.
• Experience leading development of software simulation testbeds for complex systems.
• Experience developing, verifying, certifying, and releasing mission- and safety-critical software.
• Experience with mission operations and ground data systems.
• Familiarity with ARM hardware, RTOS, BSPs, and aerospace concepts.
• Familiarity with GitLab, Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, Ansible

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of the VTB SW infrastructure.
• Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and design applications to meet needs.
• Support VTB integration of avionics, flight software and ground software.
• Diagnose and fix software problems at installation, deployment, configuration, server-side and client-side levels.
