Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a Floor Plan Specialist in the FP&M Space Management Office to collect, update, and maintain space data. The role supports campus reporting and planning by pairing field data with inventory systems and master plans.

The ideal candidate will have CAD proficiency, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information while coordinating with schools, colleges, and divisions.

Qualifications

• Driver’s license is required and meets UW Risk Management Standards.
• 2 years of professional work experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Advanced knowledge of Autodesk CAD to create and update accurate floor plans.
• Experience with gathering, updating and implementing field data into a standardized floor plan program.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the development and maintenance of Space Management and FP&M floor plan standards, including room number schema, drawing file process and storage, layers and drawing elements, and uniform graphics and symbology.
• Investigates options for potential future development based on unit facility master plans and the Campus Master Plan.
• Produces and maintains space floor plans and integrates them with the space inventory data system according to Space Management and FP&M standards.
• Schedules logistics and secures resources and information to identify, assign, and acquire space for institutional use.
• Analyzes, audits, and updates facility records.
• Reviews, evaluates, approves, and provides recommendations for facility improvements, space assignments, and proposals using best practices and policies.
• Reviews space requests and models test fits and facility options for massing, scale, and impact per Campus Master Plan.
