Job summary

Intuitive Machines in Glen Burnie, MD is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanisms Engineer to lead design, layout, and analysis of spaceflight mechanisms for Nova-landers and payloads, including motor-driven actuators, deployment systems, gimbals, and associated hardware used on missions.

You will generate CAD drawings, manage BOMs, coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams (structures, thermal, avionics, software), oversee testing plans, supplier selection, and environmental testing, while mentoring

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanisms or space systems.
• Proficiency with Creo and Windchill for design and data management.
• Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 GD&T for dimensional control.
• Experience generating work orders, assembly procedures and test plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, layout, and analysis of mechanisms for Nova-landers and payloads.
• Develop performance specs for actuators, lead procurement, and oversee testing.
• Contribute to subsystem reviews, requirements definition, and verification planning.
• Contribute to mechanism IMS for deliverable hardware.
• Develop and maintain BOM and manage hardware procurement activity.
• Interface with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanisms into the vehicle.
• Drive supplier selection, negotiation, and performance management for shops and vendors.
• Perform mechanism analyses including bearing and gear calculations, force and torque margins.
• Generate CAD drawings; perform tolerance analysis and optimization.
• Perform environmental testing plans, execution, and evaluation.
• Mentor junior engineers and represent mechanics at reviews.
