Job summary

Intuitive Machines in Glen Burnie, MD is seeking a Mechanisms Engineer to join our on-site team at the Mechanisms Annex.

You will design, develop, manufacture and test spaceflight mechanisms such as motor-driven actuators, payload deployers, antenna deployment and articulation devices, gimbal systems, launch hold-down systems, optical adjustment mechanisms, robotic manipulators and tools, and fluid couplings for cryogenic and rocket propellant systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Proficiency with Creo and Windchill.
• Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Experience generating work orders, assembly procedures, and test plans for mechanisms.
• Familiarity with spaceflight mechanisms testing and ground support equipment.
• Familiarity with materials, processes and components used in space.
• Familiarity with motion simulation and finite element analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, layout, and analysis of mechanisms for IM’s Nova-landers.
• Develop performance specs for actuators; oversee testing/characterization.
• Contribute to subsystem reviews, requirements, and verification planning.
• Maintain IMS for deliverable hardware and BOM management.
• Interface with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanisms into the vehicle.
• Drive supplier selection, negotiation, and performance management.
• Perform mechanism analyses including bearing and gear calculations.
• Generate CAD drawings and perform tolerancing analyses.
• Conduct environmental testing, including test plans and results evaluation.
• Mentor junior engineers and represent mechanism engineering at reviews.
