Job summary

Intuitive Machines is seeking a skilled Mechanisms Engineer to join our Glen Burnie, MD team. You will design, develop, manufacture, and test space-flight and ground support mechanisms such as actuators, deployers, gimbals, and fluid couplings for cryogenic systems.

You will lead the design and analysis, develop performance specs for actuators, manage procurement, and coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanisms into spacecraft.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Experience with spaceflight mechanisms and testing.
• Familiarity with GD&T and mechanical/electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, layout, and analysis of mechanisms for Nova-landers and their payloads.
• Develop specifications for actuators, oversee testing and procurement.
• Contribute to subsystem reviews, requirements definition, and verification planning.
• Contribute to mechanism IMS for deliverable hardware.
• Develop and maintain BOMs and manage hardware procurement.
• Interface with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanisms into the vehicle.
• Drive supplier selection, negotiation, and performance management.
• Perform mechanism analyses including bearing, gear, and torque margins.
• Generate CAD drawings and perform tolerance analysis and optimization.
• Perform environmental testing, test plans, and results evaluation.
• Mentor junior engineers and represent the team at reviews.
