Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a motivated engineer or physicist for the SpaceTech division as a Components (EEE) Parts Engineer.

You will learn to select and qualify electronics for space environments, guided by senior authorities, ensuring passive and active components survive mission critical operations. You will work as a bridge among design, procurement, and quality teams, study MIL-STD/Earth-standards, and contribute to a robust reliability and radiation assurance process with NSPARs and

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Experience with applications/usages of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical components
  • Interest in radiation-hardened electronics, materials science, or space environments
  • Excellent data management and meticulous documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Responsibilities

  • Assist in component selection and qualification for program requirements.
  • Interpret MIL-STD/EEE-INST/PEM-INST for screening and qualification.
  • Serve as technical liaison among design, procurement, and quality teams.
  • Monitor obsolescence and identify suitable end-of-life replacements.
  • Review GIDEP alerts and Product Change Notices (PCNs).
  • Support counterfeit part detection through inspection and records review.
  • Work with radiation specialists on ionizing radiation effects.
  • Document radiation tolerances for space-based systems.
  • Prepare NSPARs and essential compliance reports.
  • Coordinate component-level testing (burn-in, ESS, radiation tests).
