Job summary

The Working Families Party seeks a Southwest Ohio Organizer to build grassroots capacity in Dayton and Cincinnati, supporting legislative, policy, and electoral campaigns. You will recruit, train, and empower volunteer leaders to advance the party’s multiracial working-class values.

The role is full-time and temporary through November 19, 2026, with a remote-first setup and in-person meetings at regional sites. Travel and activism coordination are required as part of campaign efforts.

Qualifications

  • Experience doing field organizing (including as a volunteer) at a community organization, at a union and/or on an electoral campaign
  • Ability to train and develop skills of volunteer leaders
  • Belief in leadership development and that growth relies on an individual’s ability to have ownership of important projects and achieve success for themselves
  • Excellent communication, listening, and executive skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Very detail-oriented and ability to multi-task
  • Experience working with a diverse group of volunteers and supporters across all demographics and backgrounds– especially race, gender, and class
  • Experience with organizing tools: Spoke, Slack, Mobilize, and Action Network
  • Familiarity working with VAN

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with individual activists, members, and leaders
  • Organize opportunities for grassroots engagement on issue campaigns and in movement-building work
  • Organize phone banking, text banking, canvassing, and postcarding events for 2026 election cycle
  • Identify volunteer team needs and work with them to recruit members and activists to do that work
  • Suggest engagement strategies to reach out to potential supporters and current volunteers, move them up the WFP ladder of engagement, and deepen their leadership.
  • Manage contact lists and maintain up-to-date records in our database
  • Uses skills to contribute to development of party objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. takes initiative to meet assigned deliverables and priorities on time?
  • Evaluates changing conditions and suggestions modifications to plans
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
