Job description

Coordinated Campaign Campus Organizing Fellow
ABOUT OHIO

State Parties are responsible for building infrastructure necessary for successful candidate campaigns up and down the ballot. Over the last few years, Ohio Democrats built a year-round organizing model driven by local community activists and volunteers. Ohio Dems are testing new technology and programs to build a modern, data-driven and nimble force to elect Democrats statewide now and in the future.

In 2026, every statewide office will be on the ballot – including the governor’s race and a special election to elect a U.S. Senator to the seat currently occupied by appointed Senator Jon Husted. With 3 DCCC Frontline Races to protect and 3 additional seats targeted by the DCCC, the path to a Democratic majority in the U.S. House and Senate will once again run through Ohio in 2026.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Ohio Democratic Party’s Organizing department is seeking passionate Campus Organizing Fellows to manage volunteer and direct voter contact efforts on campuses across the state. Coordinated Campaign Campus Fellows will recruit and train volunteers to conduct extensive voter outreach to support the 2026 Coordinated Campaign in a battleground state. They will work with volunteers, clubs, and Democratic campaigns to support the organizing program for statewide success. Responsibilities will generally include:

ROLE OVERVIEW
  • Recruit, train, and manage teams of volunteers on campuses across the state to persuade and mobilize student voters for our Democratic ticket
  • Build strong, impactful relationships with campus organizations and volunteer leaders to support our campaign
  • Hit ambitious voter contact goals primarily through face-to-face conversations while tabling and high traffic canvassing
  • Plan and host events to promote the campaign on campus
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with customer-service standards and experience in public-facing roles
  • Able to engage thoughtfully and respectfully with voters and volunteers from diverse backgrounds and a variety of perspectives
  • Nimble and able to adjust to changing priorities and circumstances quickly
  • Clear communicator who enjoys training others on new skills
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced campaign environment, that may require irregular hours, including some nights and weekends
PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS
  • Outgoing, approachable, and excited to make connections with new people
  • Highly organized and able to balance multiple competing priorities
  • Passionate about engaging meaningfully with students about Democratic candidates, issues, and values
  • Strong work ethic and motivated to meet high goals while developing new skills
  • Previous paid or volunteer Organizing experience a plus, but not required
  • Fully invested in the success of Ohio Democrats

The Campus Organizing Fellow will be paid an hourly rate of $15. The hourly expectation will be set by the campaign and based on availability of the Fellow, with a minimum of 10 hours per week and a maximum of 20 hours per week per Fellow. Applicants must live in and be enrolled as a student at a college, university, or community college in Ohio.

Ohio Democrats recognize our success requires a diverse mix of talented people. We are focused on building a staff that is diverse in race, gender and gender expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin and all the other fascinating characteristics that make us different. Candidates of color, women, LGBTQI, and more are encouraged to apply.

This is a cycle position and ends on November 15, 2026.
