Job description

Coordinated Campaign Regional Organizing Director
ABOUT OHIO

State Parties are responsible for building infrastructure necessary for successful candidate campaigns up and down the ballot. Over the last few years, Ohio Democrats built a year-round organizing model driven by local community activists and volunteers. Ohio Dems are testing new technology and programs to build a modern, data-driven and nimble force to elect Democrats statewide now and in the future.

In 2026, every statewide office will be on the ballot – including the governor’s race and a special election to elect a U.S. Senator to a full six‑year term in the seat currently occupied by appointed Senator Jon Husted. With 3 DCCC Frontline Races to protect and 3 additional seats targeted by the DCCC, the path to a Democratic majority in the U.S. House and Senate will once again run through Ohio in 2026.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Regional Organizing Directors play a critical role in executing the coordinated campaign’s statewide organizing strategy on the ground. Regionals are managers responsible for coaching and supporting Organizers, ensuring metric‑driven success, and developing staff to meet programmatic goals. Regional Organizing Directors are resilient leaders, intentional people managers, and creative problem‑solvers who thrive in fast‑paced, metric‑driven environments.

ROLE OVERVIEW
  • Coach, mentor, and manage a team of Organizers to ensure effective implementation of the coordinated campaign’s organizing plan across assigned the region.
  • Support the hiring, onboarding, and development of Organizing staff, including Organizers and Fellows.
  • Ensure organizing teams are trained, supported, and equipped to meet ambitious volunteer recruitment and voter contact goals, in collaboration with campaign leadership.
  • Develop systems and processes that drive accountability, data integrity, and consistent execution across the region.
  • Monitor progress toward daily, weekly, and phase‑based goals, and provide strategic intervention when Organizers fall behind.
  • Help build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, county parties, and coalition partners in coordination with campaign leadership.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of large‑scale volunteer and campaign events.
  • Travel regularly within Ohio to support your team and meet organizers where they are.
  • Support the Deputy Organizing Director in systems management and troubleshooting program execution on the ground.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1‑2 years of Organizing experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, especially as applied to building a strong, inclusive culture that prioritizes staff development.
  • Strong familiarity with VAN and other organizing tools.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel within Ohio and work a rigorous campaign schedule.
  • Experience managing paid staff, including unionized staff, a plus.
PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS
  • Highly adaptable and resourceful problem‑solver, able to navigate priority shifts and change effectively.
  • Possesses a collaborative spirit with a creative, thoughtful, and strategic approach to organizing work.
  • Experience working in large, metric‑driven voter contact programs.
