Job summary

The Cypress of Charlotte in Charlotte, NC is seeking a talented Sous Chef to support daily culinary operations and lead the kitchen when the Executive Chef is away.

This hands-on role emphasizes quality, teamwork, hospitality and excellence in execution, with responsibilities including supervising staff, menu planning, food costing, ordering and inventory.

You will help maintain health and safety standards and contribute to a warm, engaging dining experience for residents and guests.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform simple arithmetic and measurements.
• Two to three years’ experience in a hotel, restaurant, or club with fine dining preferred.
• Culinary education and supervisory background desirable.
• Ability to plan and organize work, interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise kitchen staff and coordinate daily assignments.
• Direct kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.
• Ensure all menu items meet quality, presentation, and portion standards.
• Prepare and post production schedules and paperwork.
• Assist with menu planning, food costing, ordering, and inventory.
• Support catered events and special functions.
