Job summary

Ascension Health is seeking an experienced ultrasound technologist for a part-time day shift at the Sparta, TN site. You will perform complex diagnostic sonography, ensure optimal image quality, and contribute to accurate radiologist interpretations.

Responsibilities include real-time identification of anatomy, maintaining PACS records, and upholding strict safety and quality standards while supporting a sterile, efficient department.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 1 month of hire date.
• ARRT or ARDMS certification pathways completed prior to hire or within 6 months.
• Cardiac or vascular sonography specialization credentials preferred.
• Cardiac/vascular sonography credentials from ARRT/ARRT/ARDMS/CCI as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex diagnostic ultrasound exams with high-definition imaging.
• Identify structures and pathologies in real time for radiologist interpretation.
• Validate image quality and patient history in PACS for review.
• Maintain safe, compliant environment with quality control and equipment care.
• Keep sterile, organized space to support efficient workflow.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Perform complex diagnostic ultrasound exams by expertly maneuvering transducers to capture the high-definition images needed for life-saving medical interpretations.

• Identify critical anatomical structures and pathologies in real-time, providing radiologists with the precise data required to make accurate diagnoses

• Optimize the patient care journey by meticulously validating image quality and patient history within the PACS system for seamless clinical review.

• Ensure a safe, high-functioning environment by conducting rigorous quality control checks and maintaining equipment to meet the highest regulatory and safety standards.

• Support departmental excellence by maintaining a sterile, organized clinical space that prioritizes patient comfort and efficient workflow.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• One or more of the following required:

• Registered Radiologic Technologist specializing in Vascular Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Registered or board-eligible for one of following: Diagnostic Med. Sonography, Radiologic Technologist, Sonography, Radiologic Technologist, Vascular Sonography, Vascular Specialist, or Vascular Technologist obtained within 6 months of hire/ transfer.

• Registered Sonography Tech specializing in Cardiac credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Registered Sonography Tech specializing in Vascular Sonography credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Registered or board-eligible for one of following: Diagnostic Med. Sonography, Radiologic Technologist, Sonography, Radiologic Technologist, Vascular Sonography, Vascular Specialist, or Vascular Technologist obtained within 6 months of hire/ transfer.

• Registered Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR Registered Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

• High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical certificate/degree required.
