Job summary

Allient Inc. in Tulsa, Oklahoma is seeking an Applications Engineer to join our team. You will engage with customers to define requirements for motors, drives, gearboxes, and related systems, acting as liaison between customers, distributors, and reps.

The role focuses on cost estimates, quotations, and supporting analyses for new and existing products, with emphasis on cross-functional collaboration, documentation, and compliance with ITAR and government-contract processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 3+ years in applications engineering, quoting, cost analysis, or related roles.
• Experience creating cost estimates and customer proposals.
• Ability to read drawings and customer specifications.
• Strong communication with internal/external stakeholders.
• Proficient with MS Office and ERP/MRP familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prepare cost estimates, quotations, bids, and supporting analyses for new and existing products.
• Review requirements to identify missing information, unclear scope, assumptions, risks, and cost drivers.
• Communicate estimates, assumptions, exclusions, risks, and key cost drivers during reviews.
• Support sales volume, pricing, and margin forecasts and help evaluate price changes.
• Serve as liaison to obtain engineering specifications and related information; assist with requisitions and work orders.
• Ensure customers and sales teams have current prints, configurations, and pricing information.
• Engage customers, distributors, reps, and regional managers to understand application needs and quote requirements.
• Collect and evaluate technical and commercial inputs including drawings, specs, BOMs, and timing.
• Prepare planning estimates and detailed itemized estimates using BOMs, labor, tooling, and manufacturing factors.
• Provide technical assistance to interpret, analyze, and resolve procurement, manufacturing, installation, and field issues.
• Support quoting for regulated or contract-driven markets (aerospace, medical, DoD, ITAR, government).
• Ensure estimates consider first article, traceability, documentation, testing, and validation requirements.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to handle ITAR/export-controlled information per procedures.
