Job summary

Fives in Louisville seeks a Solutions Engineer to design material flow and integrate receiving, storage, picking, and shipping into a single operation. You will analyze customer data, map processes across functional areas, and produce concept layouts with rates and interfaces for downstream execution.

Role requires hands-on data analysis, customer-facing technical experience, and collaboration with Sales and Project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering preferred; related experience considered.
• 8–12 years designing automated material handling or distribution operations.
• Ownership of facility- or operation-level concepts spanning multiple functional areas.
• Hands-on analysis of customer operational data (order profiles, velocity, volumes, seasonality).
• Direct customer-facing technical experience during a sales pursuit.
• Familiarity with AS/RS, goods-to-person, robotics or sortation technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Give the technical feasibility read on bid/no-bid; commercial decision sits above this department.
• Analyze customer data: order profiles, SKU velocity, slotting, volume and seasonality; establish rate and capacity basis of solution.
• Map the process across all functional areas; design material flow tying them into one operation.
• Produce block-level layout by functional area; select technology class for each.
• Evaluate technology feasibility and weigh tradeoffs (cost, throughput, flexibility, footprint, lifecycle).
• Work as technical liaison to customer with Sales; defend concept and tradeoffs.
