Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Solution Design Controls Engineer to join the Customer Service Solution Development team to estimate controls solutions for customers. You will design and estimate electrical controls for material handling systems, read schematics and PLC programs, and collaborate to implement improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• 5+ years of controls engineering and material handling experience.
• Experience designing and commissioning automated material handling systems, including electrical design, PLC, HMI, and drives.
• Proficient in Rockwell Automation PLC programming languages with RSLogix.
• Understanding of serial and ethernet communications and protocols.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to forecast and report on project status.

Responsibilities

• Understand design of materials handling systems with electrical controls, programming and software to estimate controls solutions.
• Read schematics and PLC programs; follow-up on technical details.
• Recommend ideas for productivity improvement, cost reduction and customer satisfaction.
• Interchange knowledge for processes and product applications in system design.
• Discuss complex problems with team to provide proper controls solutions for customer requests.
• Travel up to 10–20% to various customer and Dematic locations.
