Job summary

Exa, a leading AI search engine company, is seeking a Solutions Architect in New York City to drive the technical side of pre-sales engagements. You will partner with Account Executives to showcase Exa’s capabilities, run discovery, design tailored demonstrations, and lead POCs to a successful close.

You’ll work with Forward Deployed Engineers for deeper expertise, and you’ll help refine our evaluation playbooks while feeding market signals back to product.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on programming experience.
• 2+ years in presales or technical sales at an AI-native or developer-first company.
• Strong communication with CTOs, engineers and PMs.
• Track record of high performance in demanding environments.
• Willingness to travel for customer meetings and workshops.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical side of new opportunities alongside Account Executives from first call through technical win.
• Run discovery to understand use case, architecture, data needs, and success criteria.
• Build and deliver tailored demos, sample apps, and prototypes for the prospect's problem.
• Design and run workshops and POCs with clear success criteria and timelines.
• Win technical evaluations by benchmarking and comparing against alternatives.
• Handle technical objections and answer security, compliance, and architecture questions.
• Coordinate with Forward Deployed Engineers for deeper expertise and hand off after close.
• Feed market signal back to Product about prospects' asks and gaps.
• Build reusable presales assets like demo environments and evaluation playbooks.
