Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or business administration is required.
• Five (5) years experience in residential and commercial refuse collection, clean city operation, landfill and transfer operation, or vehicle maintenance operation.
• Two (2) years supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assume management responsibility for assigned services and activities of the division within the Solid Waste Department; oversee residential and commercial refuse collection, clean city operation, landfill and transfer station operation, and vehicle maintenance operation.
• Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies and priorities for assigned programs.
• Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; determine resource needs and coordinate with management to implement improvements.
• Direct and review the work plan for assigned staff; assign tasks, monitor workflow, and evaluate results.
• Monitor facilities and equipment; schedule maintenance and secure facilities as appropriate.
• Coordinate daily operations; ensure staffing adequacy and compliance with rules and regulations; address customer questions and concerns.
• Select, train, motivate and evaluate staff; provide or coordinate training; address deficiencies; enforce discipline and termination procedures.
• Participate in development and administration of the division's annual budget; forecast staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor expenditures.
