Job summary

The City of Amarillo is seeking an experienced Solid Waste Superintendent to lead both the Collection and Disposal Divisions, driving safe, compliant, and efficient public services. You will be responsible for daily operations, budgeting, staff development, and long-range planning, reporting to the Public Works Director.

Ideal candidates bring significant municipal solid waste and landfill operations background, with a strong grasp of regulatory compliance and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of supervisory or management experience in solid waste operations.
• MSW A License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets, personnel, regulatory compliance, and operational performance

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Collection and Disposal Divisions of the Solid Waste Department.
• Provide leadership for daily operations, budgeting, employee development, and long-range planning.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and exceptional customer service.
• Collaborate with directors, consultants, and stakeholders to improve operations.
