Job summary

Solid Waste Management in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a dedicated laborer to support municipal operations through manual and equipment tasks. You will assist in construction, maintenance of facilities, grounds, and open spaces, and help with waste collection and street maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of general maintenance or construction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of manual labor tasks in support of assigned function including construction and maintenance of City facilities and open spaces.
• Assist with park facilities construction including shade structures, fencing, and play area equipment.
• Perform janitorial and custodial duties; sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean facilities.
• Assist warehouse staff with receiving, storing, and distributing supplies; help with inventory control.
• Support street maintenance operations; check for pavement holes and prepare for asphalt.
• Maintain City open spaces; collect trash and assist with gates, signs, and flags.
• Assist in planting and maintenance of trees and shrubs; dig, ball, and burlap.
• Spread fertilizers and apply herbicides; operate herbicide equipment.
• Assist with irrigation system maintenance and trench digging.
• Construct trails and erosion control devices.
• Operate solid waste trucks and equipment on routes; assist with collections and litter removal.
• Adhere to safe work practices.
