Job summary

Solid Waste Management in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a laborer to perform manual labor tasks supporting area operations, including construction and maintenance of City facilities and open spaces. Responsibilities include janitorial and grounds maintenance, weed and litter control, assisting in park construction, operating waste collection equipment, and assisting with irrigation, signs, and gates.

High school diploma or GED preferred; one year of general maintenance or construction experience

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of general maintenance or construction experience preferred.
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

Perform a wide variety of manual labor tasks in support of assigned function including construction and maintenance of facilities and open spaces.
Assist in park facilities construction: shade structures, fencing, and play area equipment.
Perform janitorial duties: sweep, mop, vacuum, clean restrooms and windows.
Assist warehouse staff with receiving, storing and distributing supplies; help with inventory control.
Support street and open space maintenance, collect trash, and install gates, signs and flags.
Operate solid waste trucks, trailers, mowing equipment; assist with curbside collections.
Adhere to safe work practices.
